RetractAlarm – Smoke Alarm Safety

Portfolio Categories: Branding and Web.

RetractAlarm is a simple device that fits your existing smoke alarm, enabling you to maintain, test, clean or replace the batteries quickly and easily.

RetractAlarm approached Vivid to build a website for their product.  Colin the founder had already made a start on the website design and he needed our technical knowledge to bring his product into the public domain.

The initial conversation had focused on creating a crowdfunding video to raise funds for the product. After receiving confirmation Retract Alarm would be exhibiting at The Emergency Services Show in September and this being only six weeks away it was essential their responsive website was live for the launch.

The family-run business rallied around and sent me the text, images and the data required to produce the site. Caroline sent me design ideas, Jenna and Stuart organised site content and Colin’s knowledge of his product was enough to complete everything in good time.

Once the client signed off logo design, Vivid modified an existing WordPress template to suit the client’s needs. This allowed RetractAlarm – Smoke Alarm Safety the freedom to update the site independently Blog and contact forms were added to capture incoming client traffic. With the Emergency Services Show fast approaching, I designed the six panels for the exhibition stand with Caroline’s help and met their print deadline.

Google analytics was embedded into the website to measure The Emergency Services Show and future site performance.

Just wanted to say many thanks for all your hard work developing our new web site, its exactly as we wanted it to look, your professionalism is second to none, we asked for help from Vivid visuals to design our exhibition material, once again you delivered a fantastic designs in a very short time, many thanks. - Colin - Retractalarm Ltd

Responsive Web Design for Woodwork Wizardry

Portfolio Categories: Web.

Woodwork Wizardry was an exciting project to work on. The client required a responsive photo-rich website. The extensive portfolio would need to contain existing photographs and additional imagery created by Vivid. The homepage would display a selection of photographs, a link to the portfolio section and areas of user interest.

The portfolio contains categories, studies and living spaces, bedrooms, libraries, outdoor garden spaces and shop fitting and exhibitions. Each category would link to a portfolio of further images and a popup picture gallery.

Client testimonials were a key feature of Ian’s success. Vivid included a testimonials page with additional quotes displayed in the sidebar, along with a search facility.

A Case Study would include access to enable the client to populate information in the future.

Solution

To build the site we used WordPress and the help of Genesis Themes. WordPress would allow the client to update the content and images on the website. A WordPress half-day training course was factored into the cost of the website build.

A secure contact form is also embedded into the site. Allowing the collections of data from clients. Required fields are used to prevent spam.

Google analytics was used to measure performance. Vivid researched and suggested keywords to enhance search engine visibility. The site has had steady traffic and within two months of launch, paid for itself.

Challenge

The existing website had become static and outlived its usefulness, the ability for the client to update and edit the website was essential; in particular a gallery section which could be updated frequently. A fresh and responsive website design was required to allow users to view elle services using a wide range of devices.

Solution

Vivid created a WordPress infrastructure, allowing the client to easily control and edit site content, upload, crop and display images.

Standard contact forms were added to give the user a familiar and reassuring experience and emphasised the professional look of the site. Including social icons on the footer created easy navigation to social media.

Search Engine Optimisation ensured that traffic to the site will be maximised and Google analytics monitors the process for us.

"My old website did what I wanted it to for the time but I needed one which was mobile friendly and worked on all devices. My new website is clean, professional and easy to navigate around. And I like the fact that I can update the gallery with recent photos and add new testimonials. The introduction of a Blog keeps my website current and interactive. Vivid Visuals were great to work with and understood my requirements from the initial meeting. My site was complete and went live by the deadline quoted."
